Quick Summary
The Grow a Garden Seed Shop resets every 5 minutes. The fastest crop is Carrot at 7 seconds. Dragon Fruit takes 5+ hours to grow. Multi-harvest regrow cooldown formula: n × 5 seconds (n = unmatured fruits). Speed bonus formula: Base Time ÷ (1 + Speed%). Firemite pets stack cooldown acceleration. Harvest Party event triggers every 60 minutes.
Firemite pets stack this further — add one per Firemite. Multiple Firemites work together to accelerate cooldowns significantly!

Why Growth Times Actually Matter
Most players never think about growth times until they're sitting in the game waiting for something to happen and realizing they don't actually know how long it's supposed to take.
Then they look it up, find wildly inconsistent numbers across five different sites, and still aren't sure which one is right.
The growth times in this guide are verified. Carrot is 7 seconds. Dragon Fruit's plant phase is over 5 hours. Bamboo is 12 seconds — which makes it genuinely one of the best crops in the game if you're farming for mutations per hour rather than per harvest.
That last point matters more than people realize.
The Shop Resets Every 5 Minutes
The Seed Shop in Grow a Garden resets its stock every 5 minutes. If a rare seed you need wasn't there when you checked, you waited 5 minutes maximum, not a full day.
What most players don't know: Carrot, Strawberry, Blueberry, and Tomato are always in stock regardless of rotation. Every other seed — including Legendary and above — rotates. If you see Celestiberry or Dragon Fruit seeds in the shop, buy them immediately and in quantity. They may not appear again in the next ten rotations.
The shop reset countdown in the calculator above lets you sync to the current server reset. Hit "Sync" when you see the shop refresh, and it'll count down to the next one. Useful if you're waiting for a specific seed to rotate in.
Growth Time vs. Sheckles Per Hour — The Real Calculation
The reason Bamboo (12 seconds, Legendary tier) competes with much slower high-value crops comes down to mutations per hour.
A crop that grows in 12 seconds gives you 300 harvest attempts per hour. A crop that takes 40 minutes gives you 1.5 per hour. The slower crop needs to be worth roughly 200× more per harvest to match Bamboo's mutation frequency.
At mid-game, before you're consistently landing top-tier mutations, Bamboo's high harvest frequency often outperforms slower expensive crops. At high-level play, when you're specifically targeting a Shocked or Voidtouched mutation, the slower crop wins because each harvest is worth far more.
The calculator shows harvests per hour for any crop at any speed bonus. Run your two best candidates and compare.
Multi-Harvest Crops: How Regrow Actually Works
Multi-harvest crop regrow cooldown follows this formula: n × 5 seconds, where n is the number of unmatured fruits on the plant.
This means harvesting all fruits at once is not the same as harvesting one at a time.
In a fully grown Strawberry with 5 slots: the first harvested fruit has a 5-second cooldown, the second 10 seconds, the third 15 seconds, and so on.
What this means practically: if you harvest all 5 fruits simultaneously, the plant resets all cooldowns at once. If you harvest one at a time and let each regrow before picking the next, you're harvesting more frequently but each fruit individually.
For high-value multi-harvest crops like Moon Mango (20 fruits) or Bone Blossom (5 fruits), the difference between harvesting all at once vs staggered adds up over several hours. The Multi-Harvest Regrow Calculator above handles this math — enter your crop and how you're harvesting, and it shows you the optimal schedule.
AFK Farming — Which Crops Are Worth Planting Before You Leave
Planning around growth time is how experienced players maximize offline income.
Dragon Fruit takes over 5 hours to grow the plant, then produces fruit every 9 minutes. If you plant Dragon Fruit and come back in 6 hours, you arrive to a mature plant with several fruits waiting and can harvest continuously for a while.
Coconut needs 33 minutes and 20 seconds to grow, then drops 20–28 fruits at once when harvested. For medium-length sessions (under an hour), Coconut gives you the highest single-harvest fruit count of any crop.
Green Apple takes almost 3 hours to grow the plant, then has a 15-minute fruit regrow cooldown. Plant it before a meal, come back and you'll have several fruits to harvest.
The general AFK farming logic:
- Under 30 minutes away: Coconut or Dragon Fruit (fruit cycle)
- 1–3 hours away: Green Apple (plant matures, fruit cycle starts)
- 5+ hours away: Dragon Fruit, Bone Blossom, Zebrazinkle (full plant + multiple fruit cycles)
- Overnight: Any Divine or Transcendent crop. They mature while you sleep.
Events and Their Timers
Not all events run on a fixed cycle. Here's what does and doesn't have a predictable timer.
Recurring In-Game Events (Fixed Cycle)
The Harvest Party event triggers every 60 minutes — a community harvest competition where all players' harvests during the window count toward a shared goal.
During the Saint Patrick's Event, the Leprechaun Rainbow weather triggers every 60 minutes, giving Luck mutations to crops during that window.
Blood Moon: Occurs multiple times per day on a semi-random cycle. Not exactly predictable, but frequent enough that active farming sessions will encounter several.
Weekly Updates
The Grow a Garden team ships a major update roughly every 1–3 weeks, always on Saturdays. After an update, check the codes page — update drops sometimes come with a new code.
Admin Abuse Events
Completely unscheduled. Announced in the official Discord (#announcements) usually 30–60 minutes before they happen. These give the rarest mutations and biggest events in the game. Setting up Discord notifications for that channel is the only reliable way to catch them.
Speed Bonus Explained Simply
A 50% speed bonus doesn't mean crops grow 50% faster in simple terms — it means growth time is divided by 1.5.
The formula: Adjusted Time = Base Time ÷ (1 + Speed% ÷ 100)
A 1-hour crop with 50% speed bonus: 60 ÷ 1.5 = 40 minutes, not 30.
This catches players off guard. Doubling your speed bonus doesn't halve the time — it reduces it by a third. The calculator above handles this exactly so you don't need to do the math manually.
Firemite pets (Season 4 Level 2 reward) provide cooldown acceleration that stacks per additional Firemite in your garden — meaning multiple Firemites compound the speed reduction. If you have several, equip all of them before long farming sessions.
Most Common Growth Time Questions
How long does Carrot take to grow?
The Carrot takes around 7 seconds to fully grow — the fastest in the game, tied only with Orange Tulip.
How long does Bamboo take?
Bamboo only needs 12 seconds — making it the fastest Legendary crop and the best option for high-frequency mutation farming.
How long does Dragon Fruit take?
Dragon Fruit takes over 5 hours to grow the plant, then gives fruit every 9 minutes.
Does a sprinkler make crops grow faster?
Sprinklers automate watering, which maintains consistent moisture levels and improves mutation rates. They don't directly reduce growth time. Only specific gear items and Firemite pets reduce actual growth timers.
Can I see how long until the next shop reset?
Yes — use the Shop Reset tab in the calculator above. Sync it when you see the shop refresh and it counts down to the next 5-minute reset.
What's the longest a crop takes to grow?
Mythical and Divine crops can take hours — the longest take more than a day to fully mature. Transcendent crops like Jelly Dragonberry and Ember Root fall in the 3–4 hour initial growth range.
Do speed bonuses affect multi-harvest regrow times?
Yes. Speed bonuses reduce both the initial growth time and the per-fruit regrow cooldown on multi-harvest crops. The formula applies the same way: regrow time ÷ (1 + speed% ÷ 100).
